Groundhog of Auto Industry

The US Senate has decided to skip a bailout for the auto industry.

I feel like I'm watching a six and twisted version of the Groundhog Day celebration, with the US Senate as Punxsutawney Phil. Can't you just see Governor Granholm standing on a throne of ice shouting:

"In a few days, the US Senate shall emerge from its burrow in Washington. If it sees its shadow and returns to its burrow without giving the auto makers a loan, I decree we shall have 6 more years of recession in Michigan!"
