My new favorite song!

Maybe a good lullabye... ;) I love this song, in rock form anyway. I like when rap is made into rock. SO much better that way.

3OH!3

Heard this song on 89x last night.

We have to all agree to hate this band right now for two very good reasons:

1) "3OH!3" IS NOT A FUCKING NAME! That looks like you had a seizure while typing your band name in.

2) Just on principal, I have to hate any band that comes up with, and then has the balls to release a song with, the following lyrics: "Do the Helen Keller & talk with your hips" (at about 2 minutes in).

Bisexual Music

I know its been out for forever, but I can't believe I haven't commented on Katy Perry's song "I Kissed a Girl"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAp9BKosZXs

I love this song!

Any music that encourages bisexual curiosity in women is automatically "awesome" in my book. Its a shame more music doesn't take this tack.

Note the important thing about this song is the curiosity. I don't like lesbians. They're useless to me. I like ladies who are into dudes but are OK with occasionally making out with a girl if they are drunk enough or its their man's birthday:)

BLOG, part 2

Another blog of our weekend adventures. Sunday night we went to see My Chemical Romance at The Fillmore (formerly The State Theater) in Detroit. It was freakin awesome! They put on a great show! They remind me of Smashing Pumpkins and that is why I love them!! Of course I think the lead singer Gerard Way is a cutie so I didn't mind staring at him all night. He is very animated when he performs too. We had main floor seats but we stood in the section that did not involve moshing. Why do people mosh? It looked very painful and idiotic. Anytime your junk and head are in immediate danger is not a good time!! But I digress...

It was a lot of fun and they played all of my favorite songs. Eric and I dressed in our favorite black clothes so we could blend in ;) And we were not the oldest people there. There were quite a few people are age that went to see the concert plus all of the parents that took there kids. Plus we got to drink too!

We also met one of the coolest and cutest 7 year olds ever! I hope my kids are like him. His mom took him to the concert because he loves MCR. He was dressed in all black with a white and black neck tie. His mom said he is very smart and very artistic and he just started listening to the band on his own. He started listening to the Ramones when he was 5 and he is an up and coming talented artist.

Ah, that is better...

Eric and I were in dire need of a club night with some great electronic music pumping. Last night we went to the Bleu Room to see Armin Van Buuren, the best fucking DJ in the entire world!! He rules! We saw him in April at Bal en blanc and we wanted to see him again. Ah, we feel better now that we got our taste of great techno music and we shook our booties all night long. It does not hurt that Armin is also a cutie and he always looks like he is having a great time too. He is very audience interactive!

The Smiths?

All the music ever made in the entire history of the world, and you decide to remake The Smiths "Stop Me"? Again, I thought the point of being in music was to get laid...

So last week Eric and I went to the Dave Matthews Band concert at Pine Knob (DTE amplitheatre) without Sippie (long, nerdy story). Pete Yorn opened for them and they were pretty cool. I knew nothing about him before seeing him. He had 5 guitarists which was cool.

Then there was a 30 minute rain/severe thunderstorm delay. Dave Matthews came onto the stage by himself and basically said that this storm was something you shouldn't fool around with so everyone on the lawn should come into the pavilion to seek shelter while it storms and then they would start once everyone was back in there spots. Great idea!! Not! After the storm the ushers tried to get people out but a lot of bitches decided to stay in the pavilion. There were three 17 year old hoes, who did not know any of the songs, that decided to stand in our row in front of people. No one else decided to say anything so when one of the chicks thought of moving in front of Eric and I, I said "No way. Do you have a ticket for here?" <dumb nod>"Yeah right, there is no room for this bull. I do not think so." So she sheepishly scooted out of our area and kept looking at me when she thought of scooting over. Yeah that is right I threw down. I was ready to throw their asses out when Eric said it is fine. Just leave it. Usually I sit back and take it but I was sick of bitchy hoes trying to ruin my concerts; but I digress.

All in all Dave Matthews Band put on a great show as always as music goes. I gotta say though, I am disappointed in their stage decorations and light show. They had signs every where about how green their tour was and then they have hundreds of bright, blind the audience lights. They also had 3 large video screens behind the band that half the time displayed the band playing in close up and the other half had these stupid images that were supposed to go with the songs. The whole set made me think "Sell out". It should be about the music not the huge lights and video especially with a band with so much talent.

More Spider Pig

You will need to have iTunes installed for this one, but trust me that it is worth it.

Hans Zimmer - Spider Pig

Can you believe this is the 90th most popular download this week?

Confused on Wednesday Night

Quietdrive's cover of the song Time After Time is currently playing on XM.

I thought the point of starting a band was to get laid. How do you get laid covering a Cyndi Lauper song?

Part one of Eric and Sue's 6th anniversary celebration!

Day one of our anniversary celebration was very successful and the curse of Paul Van Dyk was lifted! W00t! Even though Eric's plane was an hour late we made it to the club right at the perfect time. We got to our local dance club Bleu about 9:30 pm. I wanted to get there early to see Kenneth Thomas, a Detroit DJ. He used to be one of the resident DJ's at Bleu but now he tours on Oakenfold's Perfecto tour since he is so fucking awesome!! We have seen him a few times at Bleu and he just gets better and better!! We danced hard before Van Dyk even got on!

Paul Van Dyk rocked hard too! I see why he has been the number one DJ! All I can say is wow! He is one of the best DJ's I have seen and my list is growing. After seeing Deep Dish 2 weeks ago I was not sure how it was going to go, but it was great. Kenneth Thomas is 10 times better than Deep Dish and PVD is 2o times better. His music makes you dance hard! All of my muscles hurt today from rocking out so hard!!

It was a great night!!

Music I Like

After my rant the other day about top 20 music sucking, I think I better point out some current music I like. If for no other reason than to remove the taint of "old guy angry at everything changing" my favorite high school friend Kelly has bestowed on both of us.

In no particular order:

Bright Eyes - Lover I don't have to Love - I happen to catch the video for this song on MTV, MTV 2, MTV 3 whatever MTV channel actually plays videos these days. The video was so simple, yet I found myself mesmerized by the lyrics. They have sort of a Violent Femes sound to them, which I happen to also like. You can watch the video on youtube. Go watch it right now. I mean it. Right now. I actually feel sad for people who haven't heard it yet. Its that good. Seriously. DO IT! Bitch...

Fall Out Boy - Fantastic stuff. Their latest CD is even better than their previous one. Both have been in my rotation for several months now. Though I am really starting to get sick of their Arm's Race song. Please release another song from the CD!

My Chemical Romance - I've come around to these guys again lately. Their newest album isn't great start to finish, but it has some really great stuff and overall I like it. Black Parade is another song that has been played WAY too much lately

Three Days Grace - I LOVE these guy's music. If you like hard rock music even a little, pick up their CD One-X. Its fantastic start to finish.

Hinder - Excellent self hating, dark music. Although I joke with people that their first single "Lips of an Angel" was created after someone bet him he couldn't make people like a song about a guy thinking of cheating with his ex-girlfriend.

Shakira & Beyonce - Beautiful Liar - OK, I admit this is a weird addition. I'm going to admit something here I have never admitted to anyone. I like Shakira's music. There I said it:) I know that's not befitting of someone as into Angry White Music (tm) as I claim to be, but I do. I just dig her voice.

Top 20 Suck More Then Usual

Has anyone noticed that top 20 music sucks even more than usual lately? XM's Top 20 station has some really HORRIBLE music on a constant loop. Stuff like:

Gym Class Heroes - Cupid's Chokehold - Sweet god this song makes me want to stab my ears drums out. Its the sort of song a 14 year old would write. With lyrics like, "She's got a smile that would make the most senile annoying old man bite his tongue", I really want to meet the music exec who found this group. So I can PUNCH HIM IN THE BALLS!

Akon - Smack that - I don't get the attraction of this song. Even the chorus, the hook of the whole song, is ridiculous. How can you possible sing, "Maybe go to my place and just kick it, like Taebo" with a straight face?

Mims - This Is Why I'm Hot - Music is not repeating the same pharse over and over again. That's what people with brain damage do. For example,

"this is why im hot, this is why im hot, this is why, this is why, this is why, im hot this is why im hot, this is why im hot, this is why, this is why, this is why im hot, im hot cuz im fly, you aint cuz u not, this is why, this is why, this is why im hot im hot cuz im fly, you aint cuz u not this is this is why, this is why, this is why im hot"

is not music. Its a cry for help.

Pretty Ricky - On The Hotline - Same problem, different name.

Fergie - I don't even need to make a joke here, do I?

New CD Plug

Sue was kind enough to get me a copy of the Don't Fake It disc from The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Despite having the strangest band name on the planet, I really like their music. They sound sort of like the music I imagine a love child of Our Lady Peace and Stabbing Westward would make.

If you have a few Best Buy gift cards lying around that you can't think of anything to spend on, it's a good bet.
